VMware Service Manager - Product End of Life:

July 2012: VMware announces that VMware Service Manager (formally known as: InfraEnteprise ITSM Software) has been discontinued from sale.

Unfortunately for existing VMware customers this has left them with no migration path to plan for as and when their Service Desk or ITSM needs mature.

Industry understanding says that VMware requires that all InfraEnterprise V8 and VSM 9.x customers upgrade to VSM 9.2 to receive continued product support. This is easier said than done. Unfortunately any upgrade can be complex and sometimes just as expensive as moving to another platform. Even if you do this, VMware have stated that General Support will be discontinued as of August 2017 for 9.x.
